Bad Bunny first teased “Un Verano Sin Ti” on January 24, 2022, while announcing his upcoming 2022 stadium tour, World’s Hottest Tour1. He described the album as “a record to play in the summer, on the beach, as a playlist”1. The music video for “Moscow Mule” was filmed in Miami, Florida, and Puerto Rico1.

“Un Verano Sin Ti” is primarily a reggaeton, cumbia, and indie pop record with musical styles from the Caribbean, such as reggae, bomba, plena, calypso, soca, dembow, mambo, merengue, and bachata1. It also contains elements of a cappella, acoustic, afrobeats, alternative rock, ambient, and more1.
Artwork
The album artwork features a sad, one-eyed heart in front of a vibrant beach setting and was designed by L.A.-based artist Adrian Hernandez (Ugly Primo). Bad Bunny conceived the idea for the album cover in the summer of 2021 and worked with Hernandez to create about seven versions before finalizing it. The cover was unveiled on May 4, 2022.
Commercial Performance
“Un Verano Sin Ti” debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 with 274,000 album-equivalent units, marking Bad Bunny’s second number-one album and the second all-Spanish language album to top the chart1. It achieved the biggest streaming week for a Latin album ever, accumulating 356.66 million official streams in the United States1. The album spent 13 nonconsecutive weeks atop the chart, becoming the album with the most weeks at No. 1 in 20221. By the end of 2022, it had 3.398 million album-equivalent units, including 70,000 physical sales (CDs) and digital downloads.
Accolades
“Un Verano Sin Ti” won Best Urban Music Album at the 23rd Annual Latin Grammy Awards.
It became the first Spanish-language album to earn a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.
The album was the world’s best-performing album of 2022 according to IFPI, making Bad Bunny the first Latino to win an IFPI Global Chart Award.
