SZA – Discography

Solána Imani Rowe, globally known as SZA, has carved a distinct and influential path in contemporary R&B, captivating audiences with her diaristic lyrics, genre-bending sound, and raw emotional vulnerability. Her discography showcases a remarkable artistic evolution, from her independent beginnings to her chart-topping, critically acclaimed studio albums.

SZA’s musical journey began with a series of self-released extended plays (EPs) that laid the groundwork for her unique style. Her debut EP, See.SZA.Run, dropped in 2012, followed by S in 2013 and Z in 2014. These early projects, characterized by their dreamy, ethereal production and honest lyricism, quickly garnered attention and led to her signing with Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) as their first female artist.

Her breakthrough arrived with the release of her debut studio album, Ctrl, in June 2017. Ctrl was a monumental success, both critically and commercially. Praised for its candid exploration of love, heartbreak, self-worth, and insecurities, the album resonated deeply with a generation. It spawned hit singles like “Love Galore” (featuring Travis Scott) and “The Weekend,” earning her multiple Grammy nominations and solidifying her position as a leading voice in alternative R&B. Ctrl has maintained remarkable longevity on the charts, a testament to its enduring impact.

After the widespread success of Ctrl, SZA took her time crafting her follow-up. During this period, she remained active with notable collaborations, including the Oscar-nominated “All the Stars” with Kendrick Lamar from the Black Panther soundtrack (2018) and the Grammy-winning “Kiss Me More” with Doja Cat (2021).

Five years after Ctrl, SZA unleashed her highly anticipated second studio album, SOS, in December 2022. SOS proved to be an even greater phenomenon, breaking numerous chart records and spending thirteen non-consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard 200. The album showcased SZA’s willingness to experiment with various genres, incorporating elements of rock, hip-hop, and pop. Its massive success was driven by hit singles like “Kill Bill” and “Snooze,” both of which became multi-platinum hits and topped charts worldwide. SOS further cemented SZA’s status as a global icon and a dominant force in music.

In late 2024, SZA released Lana, a reissue of SOS, which included additional tracks like the top-ten singles “Saturn” and “30 for 30” (with Kendrick Lamar). Her discography, though relatively concise, is a powerful testament to her artistic integrity, lyrical prowess, and ability to continually push the boundaries of contemporary music
