A$AP Rocky was originally set to release his highly anticipated album Don’t Be Dumb on August 30. However, as with many things in life, plans don’t always go as expected. Despite the delay, Rocky managed to excite fans by officially dropping his track “Tailor Swif” along with an eye-popping music video. This move came in response to the track leaking online, one of several songs from the album that surfaced prematurely. The video, shot in Kyiv, Ukraine, showcases a series of bizarre and surreal scenes, perfectly encapsulating the creativity fans expect from the Harlem-born artist. This bold visual hints at the adventurous and artistic direction Rocky is taking with Don’t Be Dumb.
A$AP Rocky’s flair for visual storytelling was also evident in his last release, the trippy and mind-bending video for “HIGHJACK.” Speaking about his artistic approach, Rocky told Billboard, “In this very moment, it’s very grim. That’s an abbreviation… It’s infusing German expressionism with ghetto futurism.” His artistic vision is so unique, in fact, that it caught the attention of filmmaker Tim Burton. Rocky revealed, “I sat and I played the album for Tim Burton, and he was f***ing with it heavy. He was rocking his head and he’s like, ‘Wow! I didn’t know you made that kind of music!'”
